ML’s grass management with a “huck” sound…Robots and drones are also mobilized

In March, the “Seoul Series” was held at Gocheok Sky Dome, where the Major League LA Dodgers and San Diego faced off. The Seoul Metropolitan Government had to renovate the facilities of Gocheok Sky Dome at 2.4 billion won to meet the major league standards. The locker room facilities were also fixed, but the management of infield soil and outfield grass was strict.

Managing grass in the Major League is beyond imagination. If players who earn more than 10 million dollars a year fail to show the best performance due to problems in the field, they would end up spending “nonsense money.” The Major League has to play 76 games, or half of 162 games in a season, at home. The “ground keeper” who manages the ballpark was regarded as a special existence since the beginning of the league.

The New York Times last year introduced how ground keepers in Baltimore and San Francisco use cutting-edge technology to manage soil and grass.

Chief Groundkeeper Nicole Sherry, who manages Baltimore’s home stadium Camden Yard, is an “agricultural expert” who studied agriculture at the university of Delaware and is also a member of the National Sports Field Management Association. She has worked as a groundkeeper since 2001 and joined Baltimore since 2006.

As an agricultural expert, Sherry laid the lawn of a bluegrass type genetically engineered to suit baseball in the Camden Yard. Daily monitoring of the moisture condition of the lawn with special equipment, and customized fertilizer is sprayed to suit the condition. Sunflower seeds, gum, and chewing tobacco that fell on the ground during the game take 12 ground maintenance workers an hour to pick them up by hand. Some stadiums use special vacuum cleaners made for grass, but Sherry and her colleagues chose to do it manually to protect the lawn.

Managing the grass at Oracle Park, San Francisco’s home stadium, where Lee Jung-hoo plays, is also beyond imagination. San Francisco’s chief ground keeper Greg Elliott flies a specially designed drone over the field five times a week for grass management. The drone has an infrared camera that measures the stress level and overall health of the lawn, so it travels around the ballpark and automatically checks the condition of the lawn. Elliott customizes liquid nutritional supplements made by combining microorganisms in the grass area where the problem occurs. Elliott explains about microbial nutritional supplements, “If you’re a person, it’s like eating vegetables for your health.”

San Francisco uses lawn mower robots to mow grass regularly. Bluegrass species grow as much as their fingernails every day, keeping them constant at around 1.25 inches (3.18 cm). Link: 토토사이트 추천
