Grand Korea’s casino sales fall by 30 pct-om-m in February

Grand Korea Leisure Inc. (GKL), which operates foreigner-only casinos in South Korea, saw its casino revenue drop 29.6 percent in February compared to January. Those revenues in February were just 6.85 billion won ($5.6 million).

The casino operator operates three foreigner-only casinos in Korea under the Seven Luck brand. There are two in the capital city of Seoul and one in the southern port city of Busan.

Casino sales increased by more than 1,250 percent in February compared to the same period last year. From Nov. 24, 2020, GKL’s stadium operations were temporarily suspended due to COVID-19 measures. Busan casinos resumed operations from Feb. 15, 2021, but Seoul casinos only reopened in mid-March 2021.

GKL’s table game sales fell 32.5% month-on-month to 5.49 billion won in February this year.

Machine game sales fell 14.6% to 1.35 billion won in February compared to January.

In January-February 2022, Grand Korea Leisure’s casino sales reached 16.65 billion won, up more than 3000% year-on-year. During this period, total sales of table games were close to 13.63 billion won, and machine game sales were around 2.94 billion won.
