Grand Amperor Casino Sales Down 10% In First Half

Gaming revenue at the Macau Grand Emperors Hotel (pictured), which operates casinos under SJM Holdings Ltd’s gaming license, fell 9.9% year-on-year in the six months to Sept. 30.

Marketwide Macau casino revenue fell 0.9% over the same period, according to the Game Inspection and Coordination Bureau, a local regulator.

Shareholder attributable profits at Hong Kong-listed Emperors Entertainment Hotels, the parent company of Grand Emperors Hotels, fell 5.3% year-over-year to HK$263.72 million (US$34 million) from HK$278.34 million a year earlier in the fiscal half.

The board declared an interim dividend of HK$0.05 per share, compared with HK$0.06 per share for the same period in 2013. The results were announced in a filing on Tuesday.

In a commentary on the figures, management said: “Game sales growth in Macau during this period has been narrowed by slower credit growth and predictions of policy-related concerns.”

Total gaming revenue at the Grand Emperors Hotel was HK$911.6 million, up sharply from HK$1 billion a year earlier. Games accounted for 85.6% of the group’s total revenue during the fiscal half-year.

Popular market casino revenue fell 14.1% to HK$671 million in the first half from HK$780.8 million a year earlier.

The property operated 67 mass tags during the reporting period, the same figure as 2013. Average daily winning bids per mass tag in the half-year period were HK$99,000, compared with HK$115,000 in the same period last year.

The Grand Amperor Hotel also has a VIP room with the same 10 tables as in 2013, which is self-managed by the group.

The parents said the VIP facility’s rolling chip production stood at HK$11.4 billion, down 5% from HK$12 billion achieved in the first six months of fiscal 2013. However, VIP room sales actually rose 7.2% year-on-year to HK$214.6 million, compared with HK$214.1 million a year earlier.

During this period, casino hotels operated 200 slot machine seats, a significant increase from 267 seats in the same period in 2013.

Total orders in the sector were HK$36 million, down 17.4% from HK$43.6 million in the first half of fiscal 2013. 바카라사이트

Slot revenues were HK$16 million, up sharply from HK$19.2 million a year earlier. Average daily win per seat was HK$1,020, up sharply from HK$860 in the first half of 2013.
