Delta Bingo & Gaming Offers C$1M To Sudbury Charity

According to the latest reports from Sudbury and Val Caron, Delta Bingo & Gaming has provided over CA$1 million to local charities over the last three months. The funding has been shared between over 150 local charitable organizations and it was collected between the start of May and the end of May. The money will be used to support vital services for residents in the regions.

The Charitable Bingo and Gaming Revitalization initiative of Ontario was launched in Greater Sudbury in 2006. This program is implemented through a collaborative effort involving various stakeholders, including the City of Greater Sudbury, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, the Ontario Charitable Gaming Association, the Commercial Gaming Association of Ontario, local charitable organizations, and Delta Bingo & Gaming.

  • New Payments Arrive

Funds provided through the Charitable Bingo and Gaming Revitalization program come crucial for food initiatives, education, healthcare, arts and culture, youth sports, and other community-focused services. One of those 150 organizations that relies on gaming allocations from the partnership to fund its operations, is the Our Children, Our Future/Nos enfants, notre avenir.

The organization uses the money to fund its Healthy Food for Kids program, which delivers supplies of infant formula, milk and diapers, fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and protein sources to vulnerable children and families. In a previous release, the organization explained that its operations would not have the same impact on children’s well-being if not for Delta Bingo & Gaming Sudbury.

It should be mentioned that Delta Bingo & Gaming Sudbury kicked off its partnership with cGaming in 2006. Meanwhile, its sister site in Val Caron first started operations in 2012. Since the start of the program, it has contributed more than CA$38 million to local charitable groups in Greater Sudbury. These groups take a percentage of all gaming at Delta Bingo & Gaming.

  • OLG also Shares Gambling Returns

In addition to funds from Charitable Bingo and Gaming Revitalization initiative, OLG also shares a percentage of its gambling revenue with communities which host its casinos. Proceeds are distributed to municipalities via the Municipal Contribution Agreement, and recently, Sudbury received its Q4 one for hosting Gateway Casinos Sudbury.

For the period of January 1, 2023, through March 31, 2023, the city bagged a total allocation of CA$444,925. This put the total sum for the whole of OLG’s 2022-23 fiscal year to CA$1,929,529. Since the launch of the casino property in November 1999, the total amount of received casino revenue nears CA$48 million.

Other Ontario municipalities also reap the rewards of hosting gaming properties. Recently, OLG handed a cheque worth just over CA$1.45 million to Sault Ste. Marie officials for hosting Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie. This was for the whole 2022-23 FY. Since the opening of the casino, the city has bagged almost CA$34 million for being a host community.
